The featured artist for this edition of HLR Spotlight is Greig Sanders. Sanders is a student in the Faculty of Media & Creative Arts’ Visual & Digital Arts program.
Artist Statement
As an aspiring concept artist, I am always studying the world around me. I learn from the form, shape, structure and lighting of the many subjects that capture my attention and inspire me; then, I use these attributes to create my own unique concepts. I tend to keep my pieces, especially those that are concept art, balanced: A piece might find harmony by being grounded in reality, yet it may also be otherworldly, outlandish in its design. I also try to imbue my designs and works with story, so that the viewer can imagine an underlying tale to the piece. My primary medium for creating art is digital, although I do occasionally like to use graphite and oil paints.
